Even though Ouray, Colorado is just a small mountain town, we have plenty of events and activities throughout the year to keep you entertained. With annual events people can look forward to every year, make sure you plan your stay ahead of schedule.

    Tween Art Club: "Papier-Mâché Creations"

    Explore the versatility of papier-mâché and craft your own sculpture during this 4-week session of the Tween Art Club. You'll learn how to build an armature and how to apply materials and techniques to create expressive painted sculptures made from papier-mâché. Whether you're interested in crafting a faux taxidermy animal head or something different, we'll provide plenty of ideas and support in an open studio atmosphere as you work on your project.

    Paint and Sip Art Class 4/16

    Paint your pet! Send 2 photos of your pet (portrait preferred), and we will make a traceable transfer for you. During class, you will transfer your pet’s image to a prepared canvas, then, with a live demonstration and lots of instructions by Kathryn Burke, you will paint your pet with acrylics on a prepared 16x20 canvas. Realistic, abstract, crazy colors, honor a pet who crossed the rainbow bridge. Anything goes! Lots of fun! All materials provided. Plus animal crackers and an adult beverage or soft drink.

    What

    A Backyard Ultra. Complete an easy 4.167 mile course. If you finish in less than an hour—just a 14:24 pace per mile—you get to do it again at the top of the hour. The race continues hour after hour until there is only one person left. To secure the win, that person must complete one more hour than anyone else. The race then ends.

    Jacob Jolliff is one of the country’s premier contemporary mandolinists. Jacob toured as a member of the beloved New England roots band, Joy Kills Sorrow, while attending Berklee School of Music on a full scholarship. In 2012, Jolliff won the National Mandolin Championship in Winfield, KS. A fixture of the national bluegrass community, he has collaborated and shared the stage with Darol Anger, Sam Bush, Ronnie McCoury, Michael Daves, Tony Trischka, and David Grisman to name a few. When Joy Kills Sorrow disbanded in 2014, Jolliff got the call to join Yonder Mountain String Band and toured full time with them until the end of 2019. This last year, Jolliff released a new album with his group, The Jacob Jolliff Band, and also toured with Béla Fleck’s as part of My Bluegrass Heart.

    Learn to knit or crochet with two skilled artisans. Josef will be teaching crochet and Kayla will be teaching knitting. You can take your pick on which one you want to learn. This program will run once per month on the first Wednesday of each month. This first class will be Wednesday, May 3 at 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

    All ages are welcome. Children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult.

This watercolor uses only lines, shapes and patterns. Cheri will provide a variety of leaves and tips for each student to design her own patterns. She will guide you step-by-step in completing your own masterpiece!

    All materials are provided, including professional grade Windsor Newton watercolor paper, selection of round and flat brushes, and high-pigmented watercolors.
